Virginia ButtonweedDiodia virginiana
Virginia buttonweed is a mat-forming perennial that is commonly found in turfgrass areas that are poorly drained. Leaves are arranged opposite, sessile, and are connected across the stem by a membrane. The dark green leaves of Virginia buttonweed can take on a mottled, yellowish color during the late summer due to the presence of a virus. White flowers with two sepals are produced during the summer. Selective control of Virginia buttonweed in turf is challenging
