Black MedicMedicago lupulina
Black medic is a creeping summer annual weed commonly found in turfgrass soils deficient in nitrogen fertility. Leaves are alternate in arrangement and composed of three leaflets. Leaflets are wedge shaped and serrated near the tip. Pinnate venation is prominently displayed. The center leaflet is attached to a separate petiole. Black medic produces bright yellow flowers that mature into tightly coiled black seedpods.
